Set in a time “before smart phones”, Eboni Booth’s Primary Trust is a touching exploration of how to build a rewarding and happy life regardless of personal circumstance. Meet Kenneth, a 36-year-old bookstore worker who spends his evenings sipping mai tais at the local tiki bar with Bert – the best friend a guy could ever have. Or is he? When he’s suddenly laid off, Kenneth finally begins to face a world he's long avoided, with transformative and even comical results. Primary Trust is a touching and inventive play about new beginnings, old friends, and seeing the world for the first time.
KENNETH: 30’s, male, Black. An introverted orphan who takes comfort in the routine of post-work mai tais at the local tiki bar with his best (only?) friend, Bert. When the small bookstore he has worked at most of his life closes, Kenneth must step out into the world he has isolated himself from. Filled with humor and heart, Kenneth develops new relationships and skills as he embraces the next chapter in his life.
