THE SHAPE OF A GIRL Workshop Facilitator
Green Thumb Theatre
(Vancouver - local, and BC - remote) BC
Canada
Green Thumb Theatre is seeking an experienced arts-based Workshop Facilitator with a background in theatre performance to create single-block workshops for up to 30 secondary school-aged students that accompany our in-school touring production of THE SHAPE OF A GIRL by Joan MacLeod in remote and rural parts of British Columbia.
Using Green Thumb’s production of THE SHAPE OF A GIRL as a springboard, the workshops encourage students to explore their own stories and the things that matter to them through the language of theatre. Reporting to the General Manager and Artistic Director, the Workshop Facilitator will create single-block workshops encouraging students to work collectively to create their own theatre piece(s). These workshops will employ theatre-based exercises to explore and create original content with the youth participants.
The contract would include:
- up to 15 hours of creation time under the direction of Green Thumb’s General Manager and Artistic Director,
- up to 15 hours of orientation and rehearsal with the cast, and
- approximately 21 days (three weeks) of out-of-town touring with the show. The show and accompanying workshops will travel to remote and rural communities throughout BC.
The 15 hours of creation time would take place over mid to late September 2024, and be scheduled according to the availability of the successful candidate and the General Manager and/or Artistic Director. The 15 hours of orientation and rehearsal would take place in early to mid-October, during the play’s rehearsal period, and the tour would take place from October 27 to November 16, 2024 (TBC). Please note: all dates are subject to change.
Shared accommodation will be arranged and per diems will be supplied for the out-of-town portion of the contract.
